My pleasure, adyjohn. Yes, we do have lots of rice fields and other agricultural sights in Mindanao, but there are also quite a few metropolitan areas like Davao and Cagayan de Oro. I do hope you make it here one of these days! :)

Thanks for the information Blogie.....much appreciated. My wife grew up in Mindanao and I was in Manilla in 2004 for the first time and married there. I wanted to go out in the province to see the sights and sounds.....rice fileds, carabao, beaches, etc. but was informed not to go out that way. Maybe sometime next year we'll chance it. Hello adyjohn. While we cannot ignore the fact that there are terrorist activities in Mindanao, it is a common mistake to think that it's happening all over the island. And Mindanao is not a small island. In spite of the pockets of conflict-riddled areas, there are still many parts of Mindanao that are safe. It's even been said before that Mindanao's cities are much safer than some of the streets in New York City.

Hi there....I would like to visit there, but am afraid because of terrorist activity in the region. I am from Canada and my wife is from there. We live here in Canada and are afraid to go back and visit because of terrorist groups there. Such a beautiful part of the world held hostage from potential tourism to the region.
